Raising Financially Literate Kids with Dr. Michele Cho Dorado (Ep. 109)

What if your child could say “investment” before they could spell it?

In this heartfelt and deeply practical episode, Iván Watanabe and Evan Wohl welcome Dr. Michele Cho Dorado, a pediatric gastroenterologist turned financial literacy advocate for kids. Michele shares how her own lack of financial education, despite years of medical training, led her to write a series of children’s books that teach money concepts through stories and play.

Together, they explore how families can normalize money conversations, build values-driven wealth legacies, and raise empowered, financially confident children. It’s not about raising rich kids, it’s about raising capable ones.

Here’s what you can expect from the episode:

  • How financial confidence begins with vocabulary (yes, even at age 3)
  • Why gamifying money works and how to start with bedtime stories
  • The role of family values in building generational wealth
  • Navigating tough conversations about inheritance and entitlement
  • And more!
